With Wimbledon in full swing let’s talk a little tennis.
The Tennis Bracelet is a bracelet with many small gems linked together on a narrow chain. Thin and simple giving it the sleek and elegant look that adds a perfect touch to an outfit. But where did we get the name “tennis bracelet” from?
Where did we get the name “tennis bracelet” from?
Let’s rewind time a little 1987 to the US Open Tennis Championship. Chris Every was playing in the semi-finals in her typical fashion-forward getup repping her signature bracelet with a design that gave her flexibility to maneuver around the court. In a particularly long rally, Every stopped the match to frantically look for all the pieces of her diamond bracelet which she noticed had just broken. All of the searching was broadcast around the world and the name “tennis bracelet” was coined.
Woman everywhere sought out the elegant style to the point that jewelers had to develop wait-lists as they scrambled to meet the demand. We still see many tennis stars still wearing the classic bands today and though they aren’t a staple in the everyday style, the tennis bracelet is still the go-to when you need to add just a little class.
